Makeda Matheson
Makeda Matheson is an award winning Writer & Director from Huddersfield, Makeda’s directing credits span documentary (her latest film ALIVE received its world premiere at Sheffield Doc/Fest 2021) and commercial film (Chanel, CNN et al). In her scripted work, Makeda draws on her Afro-Caribbean heritage and background as a documentarian to delve into different worlds and explore the rich tapestry of stories that exist within marginalised communities in the north of England.
She is currently writing as part of BFI Northern Hub and Fulwell 73’s ‘Scratch Me’ programme and previously developed an original tv pilot through Screen Yorkshire’s FLEX, agile storytelling scheme 2021/22.
